Introducing Dr. Robert L. Plummer

Dr. Robert L. Plumme
r was born, raised and educated in the Bronx. He attended both SUNY at Albany and Herbert H. Lehman College where in 1979 he graduated with a Bachelors of Science degree in Anthropology and Biology.   He then attended Rutgers Medical School in New Jersey now (The Robert Wood Johnson Medical School).  He graduated in 1983 with his Medical Doctorate degree.  

Dr. Plummer interned at Harlem Hospital Center in General Surgery and subsequently completed his surgical residency at Harlem Hospital Center, and Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center, New York City in 1988.   He completed further training in Surgical Endoscopy and Critical Care in 1989.   Dr. Plummer then joined the staff at Lincoln Hospital Center and New York Medical College as an Assistant Professor of Surgery during the years 1989 to 1993.  Simultaneously, he held a position at North Central Bronx Hospital and Montefiore Medical Center in Department of Surgery.  Dr. Plummer then left academic medicine to pursue a full-time General Surgical and Laparoscopic practice.  Since then Dr. Plummer has held attending surgeon positions at Montefiore Medical Center, Einstein Medical Center, Our Lady of Mercy Medical Center, Mt. Vernon Medical Center, St. Josephs Medical Center Yonkers and St. Barnabas in the Bronx.   

 Dr. Plummer’s present practice includes a wide range of general surgery including: breast cancer, colon cancer, rectal cancer and all gastrointestinal surgery, hernia and hemorrhoidal surgery.   He is also actively involved in advanced Laparoscopic surgery including Laparoscopic intestinal and Gastric surgery.
